Bioethics Consulting LLC is available to bring national expertise to questions of clinical ethics, medical education and professionalism, including CME lectures or Board membership on research and public health ethics.  
Bioethics Consulting LLC offers ethics consultation for patient care decisions in hospitals without active ethics consulation serivces. Most hospitals have an ethics committee that meets monthly but do not have an active on-call ethics consultation service readily available for patients and families. I provide a precise, personalized solution for patients. families. and clinicians that follows all current standards for best ethical practices.  
Bioethics Consulting LLC provides a wide range of clinical education consulting, such as multi-course/multi-year curriculum (vertical) curriculum development and faculty mentoring.  Much ethics education is now done by facilitators with no background in ethics, so a successful outcome depends on not just designing the right curriculum and learning objectives, but also proper ‘training of the trainers.’ 
Bioethics Consulting LLC offers expertise for hospitals planning on developing or enhancing their ethics services, including ethics committees and ethics consultation. Consultantions are available for short-term site visits to refine the assessment of institutional needs.

Spike has his PhD from Johns Hopkins Univerity and has over 35 years of experience consulting for hospitals and medical schools in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, and Virgina. He has developed curricula used at medical schools around the world that was published in Academic Medicine and MedEdPortal.  He taught clinical ethics, professionalism, and health humanities at academic health science centers (medical schools, nursing schools, and schools of public health) in Rochester NY, Tallahassee FL, Houston TX, and Washington DC.   Most importantly, and uniquely, he was on the curriculum committee for medical schools during periods of major curricular revisions.  

An example of how ethics is best integrated throughout the entire four-year curriculum, Spike contributed an ethical analysis to 45 cases in WebPath that are used for teaching pathology in the United States and internationally.  He has also been an innovator in the use of narrative medicine to teach patient-centered practice and shared decision-making.  

Spike has extensive experience in ethical issues in OB/GYN, Surgery, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics as well as in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Palliative Care.  He was the content expert for a successful Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) for reaccreditation of the University of Texas in Houston.
